林美登利の作り出す人形作品は、自然に宿る魂、そして死者の魂、二つの意味で精霊のような姿をしています。
サーニットや骨や真鍮から成る子供たちは、
優雅に深い闇のユートピアの中で遊び、近年は、よりプリミティブで神話的な空気を濃厚に纏います。
今回のテーマは「驚異の部屋」。本展では、新作の発表を含め、2名の写真家、Yulia Shurと田中流による林美登利のドール写真作品も共に展示を行います。

When I think about what is beautiful to my eye, the words “room of
wonder” cross my mind. It is a display room for curios existed in
Europe in the past in which strange and beautiful articles,
regardless of natural or artificial objects, were collected
together.
I wish I could put dolls that I created by combining what is
beautiful to my eye such as bone, metal, glass, and cray, etc.
sneakily in the corner of that room too. Would my dolls fit in
beautifully there? I simply wish they would. (Midori HAYASHI)
Dolls created by Midori HAYASHI appear as if they were spirits, in the sense of both spirits in nature and spirits of the dead. Children made of cernit clay, bones, and brass play gracefully in the utopia of deep darkness and, in late years, heavily wear more primitive and mythical atmosphere.
The theme of this exhibition is “Room of Wonder”. In addition to presenting new dolls by Midori HAYASHI, the exhibition also features photos of her dolls by two photographers, Yulia SHUR and Nagare TANAKA.
